Last saturday we(my class and I) went to a very nice little village called Melden. One of my professors has a farm and lots of land(with a big swimming- pond and fruit3s and acres and acres of pure grass )over there and he wants to renovate this place. So we took all the measures, made maps and plans of it and now we can start creating a nice second home for him. This farm is from 1870(still without streaming water and electricity) and was used from 1914-1918 by zie Germans for ammunitionstorage. Actually there's still a lot of dangerous explosives hidden under the soil/surface.So if we start building this up we have to call the special bombunit from the Belgian army(do we still have some bravehearts over there?) But I'm very excited about this project. I had to cancel the hotel-project, but since i feel a lot better I'm happy that I'm able to design and create again. It's a big project so I'll better start moving b4 zie germans come.
was a cold day so we warmed our selves @the stove
our lovely Tsjetsjeninans students
So now it's up to us to transform this old dump into a new old style farm. The difficulty is this. It's a protected monument and therefore we've got a lot of bureaucratic stupid restrictions. It's insane. It's also situated in a rural environment which gives us extra extra limitations of creative freedom. Actually there's no freedom at all to renovate your own property in this area.
You can add 20% to the total volume. You can hardly change something inside without dealing with tons of paperwork and everything has to be approved by a special jury. It's crazy. It's surrounded by trees but you can't use wood to rebuild.Do you understand the logics behind this? Cause I don't have a clue.
We hope that our plans will slip through their nets!
